The Shah Rukh Khan-starrer is part of Aditya Chopra’s ambitious spy universe and has the biggest stars of the country- Deepika Padukone and John Abraham alongside King Khan. What’s even better is the fact that several cinemas, which shut down due to COVID-19, are reopening for Pathaan, thanks to the unprecedented buzz and hype that it has generated.
PATHAAN TO REVIVE SINGLE SCREENS

The wait for Pathaan is almost over, and the film has been creating an example with its advance booking numbers, both in the nation and overseas. Now, the film also seems to be reviving single screen theatres. More and more cinemas are being encouraged to re-open by the production house, Yash Raj Films. Post the pandemic, YRF is trying to nurse the theatrical landscape back to pre-Covid times. Shah Rukh Khan’s superstardom and the buzz on Pathaan could usher in a new dawn for the theatrical business, which took a hit during the pandemic.

BRAHMASTRA’S BUDGET

For those unaware, Brahmastra has been mounted on a very large scale. Backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Starlight Pictures, and Prime Focus in association with Star Studios, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor’s film is said to be made on a budget of Rs 300 to Rs 350 crore. Having said that, the budget involves everything right from the actor’s fees to publicity and marketing costs.

The VFX of the film is one of the best works that one can see on the big screen soon. The trailer of Brahmastra was a mere glimpse of the heavy VFX work used in the film for different scenes. Needless to add, the special effects and VFX are touted to be the plus points of Brahmastra.

As far as the ticket prices of the film are concerned, they are likely to be on the higher side for multiplexes in IMAX. The Ayan Mukerji directorial will be released in several languages across formats such as 2D, 3D, IMAX 3D and 4DX 3D.

BIG-BUDGET FILMS OF 2022

Prior to Brahmastra’s release, two big-budget movies hit the silver screen but didn’t perform well at the box office. Ranbir Kapoor’s film Shamshera, directed by Karan Malhotra, was made on a budget of Rs 100 to Rs 150 crore. Unfortunately, the film couldn’t cross the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office.

During the premiere of Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Naa, Aamir Khan and Atul Kulkarni discussed their love for cinema and how fascinated they were by the cinematic wonder of Forrest Gump. Laal Singh Chaddha is the Indian adaptation of the Hollywood film Forrest Gump.

Both the actors agreed that the film should travel to places and reach people. Post this conversation, Atul felt inspired to write Laal Singh Chaddha. BRAHMASTRA TRAILER IS VISUALLY STUNNING!

Visually, the trailer is groundbreaking, especially if you put on your 3D glasses and watch it. Fantasy fiction, as a genre, needs strong VFX and CGI to support the filmmaker’s vision. In this case, Ayan has got the visual aesthetics right. Right from the opening frame to the sneak peek into the big fight scene between the good guys and the bad guys, the special effects of the film are stellar.

From the trailer, Brahmastra comes across as an intense love story, set against the backdrop of a fantasy-fiction world. Ayan is a master storyteller when it comes to narrating romance and, with Brahmastra, he takes two of the most popular romantic actors – Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt – and weaves a love story that’s pivotal to the plot. Oh yes, and there is also an intense romantic kiss between Isha and Shiva in one of the scenes.

BRAHMASTRA IS NOT A SUPERHERO FILM

You heard that right. Ranbir’s Shiva doesn’t have a cape or a suit, nor does he wear a mask or have gadgets taped to his hand. Shiva is a mythological hero whose divinity comes from our Indian Gods. Ayan establishes this at the very onset of the trailer, so as to nip the superhero comparison in the bud.

Amitabh Bachchan’s voice-over and presence take the trailer to another level. He seems to be Shiva’s mentor and part of the good guys’ team. Mouni Roy looks menacing and, clearly, she seems to have made the most of her Naagin success. In Brahmastra, she looks better and her character seems darker and more sinister.

The trailer keeps you on the edge of your seats and truly delivers what it set out to achieve – a new genre truly desi at heart, with India’s first indigenous mythological hero at the centre.
